Delhi Police have arrested Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, a self-styled spiritual leader, following accusations of sexually harassing 17 women and financial fraud. Saraswati was apprehended in Agra and subsequently placed into five-day police custody by a Delhi court. The allegations involve the molestation of 17 female students at a private institute in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, with claims that he targeted women from economically weaker backgrounds.
In connection with the ongoing investigation, two female associates of Saraswati have also been taken into custody and are currently being interrogated by authorities. Police have reportedly recovered chat conversations with multiple women and screenshots of pictures from one of Saraswati’s phones, which are now part of the evidence in the case.
