Actress Divya Unni has long faced allegations, including claims of refusing a song sequence with the late actor Kalabhavan Mani in Kalyana Sougandhikam (1996) and declining a key role in director Vinayan’s 1999 film, Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, which also featured Mani. These unverified claims have reportedly led to online abuse directed at the actress.
Director Vinayan recently addressed these long-standing rumors via social media. He specifically dismissed the speculation that Divya Unni had turned down a role in Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum. Vinayan clarified that while a “well-known actress” did make such a remark concerning the film, he affirmed it was “never Divya” and stated he has never disclosed the identity of that particular actress.
