England, after being put in to bat, posted a total of 253 for 9 wickets. Nat Sciver-Brunt anchored the innings with a score of 117 runs from 117 deliveries, having been dropped earlier in her innings. Supporting contributions included Tammy Beaumont’s 32 runs, and partnerships of 60 runs between Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight, and 38 runs with Charlie Dean.
In Sri Lanka’s chase, captain Chamari Athapaththu retired hurt early. While Hasini Perera and Harshitha Samarawickrama established a partnership that reached 98 for 2 wickets, England’s bowling attack ultimately limited their progress.
