Fatal Drowning Incident Claims Three Girls in Himachal Pradesh's Una District

Three schoolgirls, aged between 13 and 14 years, drowned in a seasonal rivulet near Bangana in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district on Thursday. The victims, all Class 5 students and including two sisters, were reportedly washing their school bags near Chaproh village when the incident occurred.

Villagers discovered the bodies downstream, and medical staff at Adarsh Hospital, Thanakalan, declared them deceased. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Surinder Singh stated that authorities do not suspect foul play, a view supported by the victims’ parents. Post-mortem examinations are scheduled at the Civil Hospital in Una, and inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The rivulet is regularly used by locals for washing and watering cattle. Following the incident, villagers have urged the administration to implement safety measures at dangerous points along the waterway. Local MLA Vivek Sharma visited the affected families and announced his intention to discuss the matter with the state government.
