Former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has died following an attack at HMP Wakefield, according to prison sources. Watkins was serving a 29-year sentence for child sex offenses, which included the rape of a baby, along with an additional six years on licence.
Reports from the PA News Agency indicate that Watkins was attacked with a knife by another inmate. Police detectives are currently investigating the incident, with inquiries ongoing at the scene. This fatal incident follows a separate August 2023 attack in prison where Watkins sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
His conviction also involved two co-defendants, the mothers of children he abused, who received prison terms of 14 and 17 years, respectively.
