Former U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed a resolution to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, suggesting the country's Donbas region be "cut up" and that both sides immediately "stop at the battle line," cease fighting, and negotiate future terms. These comments were made shortly after Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly targeted a major gas processing plant in southern Russia.

The Orenburg gas processing plant, operated by state-owned Gazprom near the Kazakh border, experienced a fire and halted gas intake from Kazakhstan following the reported drone attack. Regional Governor Yevgeny Solntsev indicated damage to a workshop and part of the facility. While the Russian Defense Ministry reported shooting down drones over the region, it did not confirm specific damage to the plant. Ukraine’s General Staff, however, claimed a gas processing unit was damaged, leading to a "large-scale fire." Mr. Trump has previously suggested that Ukraine may need to cede territory to end hostilities.
