The 2026 Forbes World’s Billionaires list reveals a significant increase in India's billionaire population, which now stands at 229 individuals, up from 205 in the previous year. This expansion is attributed to a strong performance in the stock market and an emergence of new company listings across various industries.

Collectively, Indian billionaires hold a combined wealth exceeding $1 trillion, a rise from $941 billion recorded in 2025. The ten wealthiest individuals on this list alone account for $368 billion, representing more than one-third of the nation’s total billionaire wealth, after jointly adding $32 billion over the past year.

Mukesh Ambani maintains his position as the richest person in both India and Asia. His net worth increased as shares of Reliance Industries climbed approximately 12 percent over the last year. However, his wealth remains below the $100 billion mark, indicating he has not yet recovered his centi-billionaire status from two years prior.
