Iran has released a fuel tanker it had seized in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the vessel's manager, Columbia Shipmanagement. The tanker, which flies a Marshall Islands flag, was intercepted last Friday while transporting high-sulfur gas oil from the United Arab Emirates to Singapore. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy stated the seizure was due to the vessel carrying "unauthorized cargo." Following its release, the 21-person crew was reported to be safe and in good spirits. The vessel was described as being in "ballast condition," indicating minimal to no cargo. The fate of its original cargo remains undisclosed, with the managing company stating it was "not in a position to provide commercial details," while also asserting that "no allegations were made against the vessel, her crew and the vessel’s managers and owners."
