Filmmaker Kasthuri Raja recently provided insights into his son, actor-director Dhanush's career trajectory and his latest directorial project. Raja noted that Dhanush's film, Idli Kadai, achieved commercial viability despite strong competition. In an interview with Behindwoods, he detailed the origins of Idli Kadai's story and recounted Dhanush's initial entry into acting. Raja stated that Dhanush, during his second year of college, expressed a desire to pursue a film career but was advised by his father to complete his degree, which he subsequently did. For his debut film, Thulluvado Ilamai, Dhanush, then 19, initially expressed a preference for a culinary career over acting. Kasthuri Raja ultimately persuaded him to take the lead role, describing the early acting experience as challenging for his son, who reportedly had to fulfill filming commitments after completing school examinations.
