A recent fatality has been reported in Kerala due to amoebic meningoencephalitis, involving a 45-year-old woman from Pattanitheruvu, Noorani, in Palakkad district. This incident occurred on Thursday. Subsequently, two additional cases were confirmed on Friday, with one identified in Veeranakavu, Thiruvananthapuram, and the other in Erumely, Kottayam.
These developments contribute to the year's total, bringing the number of amoebic infections reported so far to 164, accompanied by 38 deaths statewide. Current month statistics indicate 11 cases and five deaths have already been recorded. In the preceding month of October, Kerala had reported 65 cases of amoebic meningoencephalitis and 12 fatalities.
