The verification of electronic voting machines (EVMs), control units, and voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines from 14 polling stations in the Kolathur Assembly constituency continued for a fourth day. The procedure, conducted at the electronic voting machine storage facility in Chintadripet under the supervision of Chennai District Election Officer G.S. Sameeran, has so far yielded no evidence of malpractice. Mr. Sameeran emphasized that this exercise is distinct from a recounting process. Officials presented applicants with a randomly selected list of ten EVM sets, from which two could be chosen for verification within a one-hour period. Should an applicant not make a selection, officials randomly choose two EVMs, and the entire verification is videographed. A similar procedural approach was previously implemented in Kancheepuram.
