PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss has reiterated his party’s demand for 100% caste-based proportional representation in Tamil Nadu. He stated that while representation has increased to 69%, the pursuit of social justice remains unfinished.
Ramadoss explained that the original 100% reservation policy, implemented through a Communal Government Order, was later modified. Following a court verdict and a constitutional amendment, a new system was introduced, initially with 25% reservation for Backward Classes and 18% for Scheduled Castes, which has since risen to 69%.
He argued that current provisions in Tamil Nadu do not constitute complete social justice. According to Ramadoss, true social justice will only be realized when reservation for each community accurately reflects its population size.
Ramadoss commended the current government for announcing a social justice survey and the formation of a commission, a demand previously raised by the PMK. He urged for swift action to implement this decision.
