Tropical Storm Priscilla developed in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico on Saturday. The Miami-based National Hurricane Center characterized Priscilla as a “large tropical storm,” noting that its tropical storm-force winds extended up to 140 miles (220 kilometers) from its central point.
Separately, Tropical Storm Octave was also active in the Pacific, reportedly meandering far from shore with no projected landfall or associated coastal watches or warnings.
