Manipur police announced on Tuesday (September 30, 2025) the arrest of five individuals in separate incidents across the state. These arrests include three individuals described as active members or cadres of different proscribed organizations and two passengers apprehended for alleged drug trafficking.
Regarding the individuals linked to proscribed groups:
An individual identified as Sanasam Sanatomba Singh (54), an alleged active member of the proscribed Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA), was reportedly arrested on Monday (September 29, 2025) near his residence in Kadangband, Imphal West district. Authorities stated that two INSAS light machine gun magazines, two camouflage helmets, five bulletproof plates, and four bulletproof vests were recovered from him. Police highlighted that the PLA is reported to operate primarily from camps in neighboring Myanmar and has been associated with numerous attacks on security forces.
Additionally, an active cadre of the banned NRFM was apprehended in Khoijuman, Bishnupur district. Separately, Urikhinbam Premjit Singh (41), an alleged member of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup, was arrested from Paona Bazaar in Imphal West district. He is reportedly suspected of involvement in extorting local businesses within the Valley region.
In a distinct incident at Imphal airport, two passengers, identified as Laishram Vikash Singh (20) and Ngangbam Nelson Meitei (19), were arrested after police allegedly discovered 21.42 kg of ganja in their luggage.
