An investigation by Excise police has led to the discovery of a non-duty paid liquor (NDPL) manufacturing and distribution operation, following the interception of a vehicle in Annamayya district. The primary individuals identified in connection with the operation are brothers Addepalli Janardhan Rao and A. Jaganmoham Rao, who have been involved in the liquor trade since 2012.

Authorities allege that Janardhan Rao began manufacturing NDPL during the COVID-19 pandemic. The manufactured liquor was reportedly marketed through various outlets in Mulakalacheru and the ANR Restaurant and Bar, which is owned by the accused. According to an Excise official, ingredients such as spirit, caramel, and essence were allegedly supplied by Balaji of Goa, who reportedly has experience in distillery operations.

Fake labels, printed in Hyderabad, were reportedly used to brand the spurious liquor, which was then distributed under various brand names. The process involved transporting the liquor in cans from Mulakalacheruvu to Ibrahimpatnam, where it was bottled and labeled. The accused reportedly also had plans to establish a bar in Hyderabad, intended for raw material transportation.
