Following the death of senior Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, who was found with a gunshot wound at his residence, Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya was transferred by the Haryana government. The transfer occurred four days after Kumar’s demise. Bijarniya, a 2015-batch IPS officer, was reportedly among the police officials mentioned in a “final note” recovered from Kumar’s pocket. Chandigarh Police have moved Kumar’s body to PGIMER, but his family has not yet provided consent for a post-mortem examination, citing grievances. Chandigarh Director General of Police Sagar Preet Hooda confirmed ongoing discussions with the family regarding their concerns and the post-mortem request. The incident also drew visits from several prominent political leaders, who offered condolences and some expressed broader concerns regarding the circumstances of the officer’s death.
