The solo theatrical production, Papa Painter, a 70-minute performance in Hindi and Rajasthani, is scheduled for The Box in Pune as part of The Expression Lab’s Grand Solo Festival – VI. Directed by Ajeet Singh Pallawat, the play is set in the 1990s.

The narrative centers on a family’s migration from rural Rajasthan to an urban environment, portraying the evolving relationship between a father, rooted in tradition, and a son, influenced by city life. It explores how this transition impacts familial relationships and individual identities. Themes such as masculinity, family dynamics, and the pursuit of ambitions are examined. The playwright, whose previous work includes Besharam Aadmi and who leads Jaipur’s Ujagar Dramatic Association, has indicated that the production aims to highlight familial bonds and parental sacrifices.
