Across Punjab on Thursday, various labour unions conducted demonstrations, including burning effigies of the state government and police administration. These actions were taken in protest of the December 30 arrest of Mukesh Malaud, who serves as president of the Zameen Prapti Sangharsh Committee (ZPSC). Sangrur police apprehended Malaud in Delhi as he was returning from a program organized by Ambedkar Mission in Maharashtra. Union leaders also made claims regarding alleged mobile phone location surveillance by intelligence agencies targeting their members.
