During the 11th G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20 Summit) held in Kleinmond, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with presiding officers from the parliaments of Russia, Germany, Italy, and host South Africa. These discussions primarily focused on strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation and articulating India's perspectives on trade partnerships, technology, and sustainable development.
Specific engagements included a meeting with Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev of Russia's Federation Council, where existing productive engagements and established partnerships between the two nations were acknowledged. In discussions involving Germany, support was sought for the conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement negotiations. Additionally, Deputy Chairman Harivansh interacted with National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza of South Africa, noting the historical relationship and shared outlook between the countries on upholding international fairness, justice, and the collective interests of developing nations.
A statement from his office also indicated that these meetings provided an opportunity to recall earlier parliamentary engagements where Indian delegations had addressed cross-border terrorism, referencing events such as the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
