Ravindra Jadeja, a 36-year-old veteran, remains a central figure in the Indian Test team, distinguishing himself as a consistent presence amid substantial roster changes over the last two years. While former stalwarts of his generation have largely exited the Test setup, Jadeja’s continued importance is highlighted by his contributions in recent international series, including a tour of England and the ongoing series against the West Indies.
Recognised for his seniority, Jadeja served as vice-captain during the West Indies series. Despite currently playing under the captaincy of the younger Shubman Gill, Jadeja has affirmed that any personal aspirations for the team’s top leadership position have passed. He further noted his satisfaction in observing the successful integration and performance of younger players such as Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who are now established mainstays of the Test squad.
