The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) has launched an initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among its student body. This project, undertaken in partnership with the Kerala Startup Mission, is being overseen by the university's Design Technology Business Incubation Centre (DTBIC) on its main Kalady campus.
The program involves an initial phase focused on training faculty and students in various aspects of entrepreneurship. A subsequent phase, commencing in December, will call upon students to develop and present their start-up ideas. A dedicated technical committee is tasked with evaluating these proposals, providing technical and financial assistance to those identified as having potential for development into viable ventures.
Furthermore, the DTBIC plans to facilitate connections between students and external companies or institutions requiring specialized support. The university also intends to leverage students' expertise in artistic fields, such as painting, sculpture, and murals, by converting these skills into business opportunities, referencing previous consultancy services provided for entities including Kochi and Kannur airports. The incubation center is also exploring offering consultancy work to companies under their corporate social responsibility initiatives.
