The Telangana State AIDS Control Society (TGSACS) has reported a decline in several indicators related to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Telangana. Data indicates that the adult HIV prevalence rate in the state decreased from 0.44% in 2023 to 0.41% in 2025, a change attributed by TGSACS as reflecting a 58% reduction in new HIV infections. Additionally, the state observed a reduction of 977 HIV-related deaths between 2023 and 2024, representing an approximate 16.5% decrease.

TGSACS attributes these reported improvements to comprehensive public health efforts. These include enhanced testing coverage, improved adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART), and better access to diagnostic services such as CD4 and viral load testing, alongside strengthened management of opportunistic infections. Community awareness programs and expanded social protection initiatives, such as the Cheyutha support program, are also cited as contributing factors, with testing coverage reportedly surpassing annual targets from 2023 to 2025. The society indicates these efforts contribute to the goal of stabilizing HIV as a chronic, manageable illness.
