The U.S. military has initiated surveillance drone operations over the Gaza Strip, according to statements from Israeli and American military officials. These operations are intended to monitor ground activity and support compliance with the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
Officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that these missions are conducted with Israel's consent and are also in support of a new Civil-Military Coordination Center. This center, located in southern Israel, was recently established by the U.S. military's Central Command with the partial objective of monitoring the truce. The cease-fire, which was brokered by American, Qatari, and Egyptian mediators earlier this month, has encountered challenges due to recent violence in Gaza and ongoing tensions regarding the exchange of deceased individuals.
