The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a waiver for biometric update fees pertaining to Aadhaar cards issued to children aged 7 to 15 years. This provision, which began on October 1, 2025, is scheduled to remain in effect for a period of one year. Prior to this change, a fee of Rs 125 was charged for these updates, which are now available free of charge.
UIDAI specifies that biometric updates are mandatory for children at the ages of 5 and 15. The authority has encouraged parents to complete these necessary updates in a timely manner. This decision is projected to benefit an estimated 6 crore children across the country.
