A 35-year-old man, identified as Gowtham M., an under-trial accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case, died on Thursday after falling from the fifth floor of the City Civil Court building in Bengaluru. Mr. Gowtham, who had been brought from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison for a court hearing, was reportedly handcuffed to another accused when the incident occurred. The other accused sustained fracture injuries. Police officials are investigating the circumstances, suspecting the fall was an intentional act. Authorities indicated that an alleged DNA test report confirming his role in the case may have been a contributing factor. Mr. Gowtham was transported to Victoria Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A native of Rajasthan, he had been in judicial custody since April 21.
