A man identified as Chao Xu has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 14 years after pleading guilty to 24 sexual offences. The convictions relate to sexual assault, voyeurism, and upskirting against six women, with offences reportedly occurring between November 2021 and June 2025.
During the sentencing at Woolwich Crown Court, Judge Christopher Grout characterized Xu as a "sexual predator" and "an incredibly dangerous man." Investigations revealed that Xu hosted networking events at his flat in south-east London, where he drugged attendees and subsequently sexually assaulted them. Authorities found videos on his devices, including recordings of him raping incapacitated women and footage from hidden cameras in an air-freshener and a speaker, which captured individuals showering, using the toilet, and changing. The Metropolitan Police have appealed for further potential victims to come forward, stating their belief that Xu may be one of the most prolific sex offenders on record.
