UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently interacted with Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian-origin pilot. The encounter gained significant attention online.
The interaction occurred on October 28 during a ceremony where Captain Machchhar and the crew of flydubai flight FZ1073 received the First Class Order of Zayed II. This award recognized their courage during an in-flight attack.
Video footage shared by the UAE Royal Family’s official Instagram account depicted Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum speaking with the crew. President Al Nahyan then joined them, commending their bravery. He asked Captain Machchhar about his recovery, to which the pilot responded that healing would take two months.
