A father and son died on Sunday evening when a building collapsed in North East Delhi’s Harsh Vihar. The two men had been awarded the contract to construct an additional floor illegally on a single-storey house.
The deceased were identified as Chanderpal, 60, and his son Vijay Kumar, 33. Both were inside the building when it collapsed. Police stated that the construction of the additional floor was being carried out without the necessary permissions.
According to police, a preliminary inspection indicated that the ground floor of the old building, which reportedly also contained a godown, collapsed along with a structure on its first floor. The property is reportedly owned by Manoj Kumar, who has since been arrested by the police.
