Following a tragic stampede at a rally led by actor-politician Vijay in Karur, which resulted in 41 deaths, including two children, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief issued a video statement. Addressed to Chief Minister MK Stalin, Vijay stated, “if you want to take revenge, do whatever you can, but do not touch my party men,” adding he would be accessible at his home or office. He also reassured his supporters that their political journey would continue with “even more courage.”
Responding to criticism regarding his quick departure from the site without visiting the injured, Vijay explained that his presence could lead to an “unusual situation” and that he left for “people’s safety.” He described the event as a “painful situation” and expressed confidence that “the truth about the stampede will come out soon,” indicating a readiness to face any action. Vijay further pledged to meet the families of the victims and the injured in due course.
