Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, during a recent campaign event, voiced his concerns regarding the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) Amendment Bill. He characterized the legislation as a significant threat to religious freedom and social service activities, further suggesting it could negatively impact India's global standing. Mr. Stalin also addressed the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (AIADMK) position on the bill, asserting the party had become subservient to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Additionally, he announced two welfare measures for fishermen: an increase in the age limit for Fishermen Welfare Board membership from 65 to 70 years, and the introduction of a monthly pension for members aged between 70 and 75 years. The Chief Minister also criticized the Union BJP government’s foreign policy regarding the protection of fishermen. The event concluded with the introduction of candidates from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Secular Progressive Alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections.
