The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) announced its decision to suspend participation in the verification process of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in the Kolathur Assembly constituency. The party president, M.K. Stalin, had contested from this constituency. The DMK cited concerns regarding the alleged improper protection of the machines.
According to the party, discrepancies were identified in three out of eight EVMs previously verified. A DMK representative stated that address tags on machines from Polling Station No. 157 appeared new and lacked necessary details, while amber seals were reportedly found only on the front side of ballot units. The DMK submitted a letter containing 19 questions to the District Election Officer and sought clarifications from officials, including representatives from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, supervising the verification process, based on these observations.
