The North Kerala region, encompassing seven districts from Kasaragod to Thrissur and comprising 73 Assembly seats, demonstrated a notable change in electoral outcomes during the 2026 Assembly polls. In the 2021 elections, the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) secured 50 seats within this region. However, in the 2026 polls, the LDF’s representation in these North Kerala districts decreased to 12 seats. This shift indicates a significant realignment of political support within the state’s northern belt.
