The official Facebook page of Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav was suspended on Friday evening, eliciting strong condemnation from his party.
Samajwadi Party representatives accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of being responsible for the suspension. SP spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chaand described the action as an “attack on democracy,” while National Secretary Rajeev Rai stated it constituted a “blow to India’s democratic system” and an attempt to suppress socialist voices.
Additionally, SP MLA Pooja Shukla criticized Facebook for suspending Mr. Yadav’s account without any prior warning or notice, asserting that the platform “cannot silence democracy.”
