The Samajwadi Party (SP) has claimed that the official Facebook account of its president, Akhilesh Yadav, was suspended on Friday, October 10, 2025, at approximately 6 PM. The account, which has more than 8 million followers, was reportedly utilized by Mr. Yadav to share his perspectives, highlight perceived government deficiencies, and connect with supporters.
In response to the alleged suspension, the SP accused the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of enacting an “undeclared emergency” and suppressing opposing viewpoints. SP spokesperson Fakhrul Hasan Chaand conveyed on X that suspending the account of a national party’s president constituted an “attack on democracy” and affirmed the Samajwadi Party’s resolve to continue opposing what it terms the BJP’s “anti-people policies.”
