The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has addressed a delay by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) Presiding Officer in disbursing a Rs 7 lakh insurance claim to a widow, Renoo Singh. Despite previous High Court instructions issued in 2019, the MACT officer reportedly conditioned the release of funds on the appearance of the applicant's former counsel, even though a dispute between the widow's previous and current lawyers was indicated. In an order dated April 3, the bench, presided over by Justice Jaspreet Singh, requested a detailed explanation from the Presiding Officer regarding the circumstances and legal authority behind the impugned order of February 6, 2026, which delayed the claim's release.
