On Friday, October 24, 2025, a private luxury bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru reportedly caught fire after colliding with a two-wheeler at approximately 3:30 a.m. in Chinna Tekuru village, Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. Twenty-seven individuals, including two drivers, exited the vehicle, some sustaining injuries. Survivors of the incident stated that improved driver response, particularly regarding the opening of bus doors, might have resulted in fewer casualties.

Statistical data from the Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India 2023 report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) indicates that Andhra Pradesh recorded a total of 8,137 deaths due to road accidents in 2023. Bus accidents accounted for 115 of these fatalities, representing 1.41% of the overall road accident deaths in the state. Deaths attributed to two-wheeler accidents totaled 3,709, comprising over 50% of the state's road accident fatalities for that year.
