Recent data from the Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) reveals a complex picture of the city's road safety for 2025. While total road accidents increased marginally to 4,893 incidents in 2025, up from 4,769 in 2024, the number of fatal accidents and overall deaths declined for the second consecutive year. Pedestrian fatalities, for example, decreased from 233 in 2024 to 225 in 2025. Conversely, self-accident deaths were recorded at 212 in 2024, an increase from 210 in 2023.

Non-fatal accidents also saw an increase, rising from 3,900 in 2024 to 4,050 in 2025, leading to 4,272 injuries in 2025 compared to 4,022 the previous year. BTP officials attribute the rise in minor accidents to factors such as increased vehicle numbers and urban congestion.

A historical comparison indicates that between 2011 and 2015, Bengaluru registered 26,588 accident cases, with fatal incidents comprising 13.64% and resulting in 3,770 deaths. In the more recent period from 2021 to 2025, fatal accidents represented 18.30% of the 21,671 total cases, leading to 4,108 deaths. A traffic officer suggested that the increased registration of self-accidents as FIRs contributed to the rise in reported fatal accidents during the latter period, alongside a perceived decrease in enforcement apprehension among commuters.

Geographically, police stations situated in the city's peripheral areas recorded the highest numbers of fatal accidents. Identified as high-incident locations are Yelahanka (49), Chikkajala (42), Electronics City (38), and Devanahalli Airport (36).
