The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Apollo Tyres as the new lead sponsor for India’s men’s and women’s national cricket teams. The three-year agreement, valued at a record Rs 579 crore, includes a payment of Rs 4.5 crore per game. This per-game rate exceeds the Rs 4 crore previously paid by Dream11, the immediate past lead sponsor. Other former lead sponsors for the BCCI have included Sahara, Star, Oppo, and Byju’s.
The sponsorship deal extends to all international fixtures, excluding ICC tournaments, as well as matches involving the BCCI’s ‘A’ and Under-19 teams. During the bidding process, Apollo Tyres submitted the highest offer at Rs 579.06 crore, followed by Australian software company Canva with a bid of Rs 554.48 crore (equivalent to Rs 4.28 crore per game). The BCCI emphasized stability and ‘face value’ as significant factors in its selection, following previous challenges encountered with sponsorship agreements.
