Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have uncovered a transnational cyber scam operation that allegedly recruited unemployed local youth with promises of overseas employment.
According to the State Investigation Agency (SIA), facilitators in Kashmir worked with handlers based abroad to lure vulnerable individuals. These recruits were reportedly transported through Thailand to the Myawaddy region of Myanmar, where they were subjected to exploitation and forced to participate in cyber scam activities.
The SIA stated that the investigation aims to identify the complete network, including local and overseas connections, and the financial and logistical channels supporting the operation. Incriminating materials such as mobile phones, identity documents, and job agreements were seized during searches conducted by the police.
