Ahead of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2025 scheduled for Sunday, 271 male Delhi Police personnel have been excluded from the final participant list. These individuals were part of an approximate total of 871 officers, including 171 women who were selected, who had trained for months for the event. Affected personnel reported receiving “vague answers” from organizers regarding their non-inclusion and have appealed for intervention from senior officials.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Bayala stated that organizers cited issues with registration forms as the reason for the exclusions. The Delhi Police are currently engaging in discussions with event organizers to ensure all 871 trained personnel can participate, with a formal response from the organizers still pending. The marathon is expected to host over 40,000 runners and features former track and field athlete Carl Lewis as its International Event Ambassador. To facilitate participants, the Delhi Metro will commence services early on several lines.
