The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in Delhi-NCR has mandated the immediate implementation of Stage II actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
This decision was prompted by a deterioration in the region's air quality, which has been classified as 'very poor'. The activation of GRAP Stage II follows the earlier initiation of Stage I in the capital four days prior.
According to the CAQM's order, which cited forecasts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and IITM, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) demonstrated an increasing trend, recording 296 at 4:00 pm and 302 at 7:00 pm on the day of the directive. Further decline in the AQI is anticipated in the forthcoming days.
