Reform UK Deputy Leader Richard Tice expresses opposition to green energy and ‘net zero’ initiatives, a stance reflected in his party’s policy platform. However, a review of companies he led over a 15-year period reveals a business record supporting sustainability efforts.
Statements found in annual reports from property companies CLS Holdings and Quidnet Reit, led by Mr. Tice since 2011, highlighted commitments to energy saving, CO2 emission reduction, and environmental responsibility. These statements were noted by sustainability entrepreneur Steff Wright as contrasting with Mr. Tice’s current public position.
Following Mr. Tice’s promotion to chief executive at one company, a green charter was implemented, and a sustainability manager was hired. Quidnet Reit, a company launched by Mr. Tice, detailed investments in solar power in its 2021 report, projecting a reduction of approximately 70 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Similar efforts were documented in 2022 and 2023, with reports indicating solar investments were saving “hundreds of tonnes of CO²” each year.
