A significant fire erupted at Le Constellation bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort, south-west Switzerland, during a New Year's Eve celebration. The incident led to the deaths of dozens of individuals and left over 100 others injured, with many reported to be in critical condition.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following reports of smoke around 01:30 local time. While an investigation is ongoing, initial media reports widely indicate that the fire may have been caused by sparklers affixed to champagne bottles. Among those affected, British nationals are feared to be among the fatalities, and eight French nationals alongside sixteen Italian nationals are reported missing.
