An attack involving a vehicle ramming and stabbing occurred outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in Manchester, England, on a Thursday morning. The incident coincided with Yom Kippur, a significant day in the Jewish calendar.
Authorities confirmed that two individuals, identified as members of the Jewish community, were killed. Several others sustained injuries, with four reported to be in serious condition. The Greater Manchester Police responded swiftly, with officers fatally shooting the assailant within seven minutes of the initial call. Police stated that a quick-thinking witness prevented the attacker from entering the synagogue building.
An initially reported device was later determined by police to be non-viable. Two additional individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.
