An early morning road accident on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Andhra Pradesh's Markapuram district resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. The incident occurred near Rayavaram when a private travel bus, en route from Nirmal, Telangana, to Vinjamuru, Nellore district, collided with a tipper vehicle loaded with gravel.
Authorities confirmed that 13 individuals died at the scene, while 25 others sustained injuries. Among the injured, 10 are reported to be severely hurt, and 5 are in critical condition, requiring transfer to Guntur Government General Hospital. The collision took place at a turning point, according to police officials.
In response to the tragedy, the Prime Minister announced financial aid, providing ₹2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased victim and ₹50,000 to each injured person, disbursed from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Control rooms have been established in Markapuram and Nellore to assist affected families.
