Goalkeeper Mary Earps is scheduled to face her former club, Manchester United, as her current team, Paris St-Germain, visits Old Trafford for a Women's Champions League match on Wednesday.
Earps, who made 125 appearances for Manchester United during a five-year tenure before her departure 501 days prior, shared her anticipation of the fixture, stating she "knew it from the moment" United qualified. She described Old Trafford as "a special place, with so many amazing memories" and expressed her eagerness for the game, having communicated with former teammate Ella Toone following the draw.
In recent weeks, Earps has garnered attention for remarks made in her newly released autobiography concerning former England teammate Hannah Hampton and manager Sarina Wiegman.
Manchester United manager Marc Skinner commented on her return during a pre-match news conference, acknowledging Earps as "always a leader" with "her own opinion" which he "always welcomed." Skinner stated, "We welcome her back and absolutely respect her for what she did here. We also welcome her back as an opponent and I have to be clear on that. During the game, it's about us trying to win against Mary."
Manchester United will enter the match seeking a third consecutive victory in the competition.
