Greater Bengaluru Social and Educational Survey Commences, Initial Data and Official Feedback Emerge

The Social and Educational Survey has officially commenced within the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) area, covering its five municipal corporations. On its first day, over 22,000 households were surveyed across the city, with the West Corporation reporting the highest participation. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar inaugurated the initiative.

Reports from the field indicated challenges such as technical glitches and varying levels of resident cooperation. GBA Chief Commissioner M. Shivakumar, who participated in the survey, suggested simplifying the questionnaire, particularly for urban residents, and clarified that respondents cannot be compelled to answer sensitive questions, citing court directives. He affirmed that surveyors have been instructed to exercise sensitivity during data collection. Concerns regarding the survey’s perceived length, noted by the Deputy Chief Minister, were also acknowledged by officials.
