Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has stated that the Centre has not yet received the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR). This announcement follows the Telangana government's decision to assume control of HMR Phase One, a 69.2 km project, from concessionaire L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH).
The State government announced its intention to pay ₹2,100 crore to L&T for its equity investment and take over approximately ₹13,000 crore in project debt for Phase One. According to Minister Reddy, inquiries with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar confirmed the DPR's non-submission. The Centre has also sought clarification on how HMR Phase One, developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, will integrate operationally with the proposed Phase Two, which is planned for joint ownership by the Centre and State governments.
