On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, Sethiyathoppu police arrested B. Palanivel, 38, from Pinnalur. The arrest stems from a complaint alleging that Palanivel uploaded a video to his social media account containing a derogatory remark directed at Thol. Thirumavalavan, Member of Parliament for Chidambaram and president of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on allegations that the post sought to incite tension between two groups in the Pinnalur area. Further investigations are currently underway.
