The Israeli military announced Wednesday that one of four bodies received from Hamas as part of a ceasefire agreement has been identified as not belonging to an Israeli hostage held in Gaza. The broader ceasefire deal stipulates Hamas is to return 28 Israeli bodies in exchange for 360 Palestinians. Separately, Israel and the United States reiterated their position that Hamas should not hold any role in a future Gaza government. The Israeli military also stated it is investigating an individual identified as Abu Safiya on suspicion of cooperation with or work for Hamas. Concurrently, former President Trump commented that Hamas would be compelled to disarm, suggesting such action could occur swiftly and potentially with violence.
